“If we can truly remember, they will not forget.”
Throughout the design
The overall printed text: The background for all of the panels is filled with printed Directory listings from the 1960 Negro Orlando Chamber of Commerce brochure.
Florida State Archives
The maps: All of the panels except the transoms have Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps from 1956. These maps show all the built structures that existed at that time.

The plants: Plants from listing in 1846 Survey Notes of this area. The notes included native plants from the cypress swamp ecosystem. I also included a saw palmetto from the Florida scrub. Special thanks to Patrick Bohlen, UCF Arboretum
From top to bottom: bracken fern, wax myrtle, saw palmetto, dahoon holly, and bald cypress. I used various old botanical illustrations as the basis for my line drawings.
