Letter From the Suburbs

Living in the suburbs takes a toll on my mental health, the same houses repeating into infinity with their limited color schemes create a mind-numbing landscape. No matter how bright the house paint, or decorated the lawns, the suburbs evoke feelings of emptiness. The fencing and gates in these self-contained subdivisions speak of exlcusion and superiority. These streets, stagnant and boring, can make anyone feel jaded after looking at the tediously uniform houses for more than five minutes.

Still, when I detach myself from this reality, it's interesting just how alike these neighborhoods actually are. Sometimes, if not for the landscaping in individual lawns, it'd be hard to recognize your own house. Why do people find this monotony appealing?

These photographs are my letter from the suburbs.
