I have lived in the sunshine state for over 12 years and have witnessed its ever-evolving landscape, especially along the Florida coastline. Hundreds of people move here everyday from the northern, southern, and western states. Because of this we can expect change and development to occur at an elevated pace. The rich culture and history of Florida, especially along the highway A1A corridor, is rapidly being replaced and homogenized by large high-rises and condominiums. Because of this, I have carefully selected the last remaining iconic structures along the central and north coast to photograph. By focusing on these colorful motels I am participating in a form of cultural preservation. This architecture is a symbol from a place in 20th century Florida history that is disappearing before our eyes.
