Dr. Stella Sung Wins Pegasus Professor Award

Design Student Creates Mural for the Orlando Shelter

Graphic Design Junior Elizabeth Williamson designed and created a mural for an Orlando women and children's shelter run by the Salvation Army. She received the commission after winning the mural design contest sponsored by Papa John's Pizza.

"I completed my design using symbols of hope such as the blue iris, snowdrops, and butterflies. I wanted to create an artwork that would brighten up the area and make the women and children smile," she said.

BS Photography student wins the undergraduate scholarship award from SPE Southeast Region.

Christopher Wegman has been awarded the sole Undergraduate Award from the Society for Photographic Education Southeast Region which is a $500. scholarship and registration paid in full for the National Conference in San Francisco.

The work was judged by Natalie Zelt from the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The work Christopher submitted, (portraits of fathers and sons) was created during Laine Wyatt's Image, Culture, and Society class, fall 2011.

The NSF ICubed project at UCF sponsors the collaboration of students doing STEM research and students from the School of Visual Arts and Design for the creation of artifacts that are inspired by the STEM research.
