  • Bio:

I was the Department Chair and a Professor of Art at Middle Tennessee State University from 2000-2004. I am a Contributing Editor for Sculpture magazine, for which I have written articles and reviews since 1996. I have also written for Art in America magazine and Art Papers.

I was a Professor of Art at Auburn University from 1976-2000, and served as the Art Department's Graduate Program Officer during my last four years there. During my Auburn career, I was active in the studio and exhibited my work in many venues. I typically taught courses in figure drawing, painting, and studio foundations. I particularly enjoyed teaching in the Human Odyssey program for two years, in which a professor in humanities/arts/"soft" sciences team-taught with a professor in engineering/agriculture/"hard" sciences in a year-long course of study about the history, major ideas, and technological developments in (mostly) Western cultures. I was awarded Professor Emeritus status at Auburn University in 2000.

I attended the University of Illinois from 1969-1976, where I earned my BFA (1974) and MFA (1976) degrees in Painting. I completed high school at the International School of Bangkok in 1969.
