Dr. Martin joined the UCF faculty in 1992. He is a former Acting Chair of the Art Department at UCF, is a past board member of the Orlando Public Art Advisory Board, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, and the Friends of the Orlando Public Library. He is a member of the College Art Association, Southeastern College Art Conference, the American Association of Museums, and the American Society of Appraisers. His specialties are American Art, History of Prints and Drawings, British Art, Baroque, and Nineteenth-Century Art. He was awarded a Rockefeller Grant for his studies in Art History.
Before coming to UCF, Dr. Martin taught at Cal State Fullerton, LA, and Rollins College, Winter Park, FL. A former art critic for the Orlando Sentinel, he has lectured in several museums and has written numerous articles and catalogue essays. He is a former Assistant Curator at the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at U.C.L.A. His research in the field of American Art has been cited by scholars in the field of art history.
