I love telling other peoples' stories through my documentary photography. Learning other ways of life through photography, gives me examples of how I may want to live my own. Opening our eyes to people's experiences and obstacles can only help us better understand each other.
Jennifer is a hard working 25-year-old, bartending to support herself and her son. A couple of years ago, Jen started to notice that her son was a little different. He wasn't speaking or playing with other children and was overly focused on small things. As if being a young single mother isn't hard enough, her 4-year-old son, was diagnosed with autism.
Because of Dominick's condition, he attends speech therapy daily and is on a diet to meet his bodies' special needs. Jennifer has little alone time because very few people can baby sit a child with autism. In seeing Jennifer and Dominick's bond, zest for life, and a will to have a positive outlook, I find inspiration to live life with an open heart. By sharing their story through my images, I want to inspire others as well.
